Indian Politics

ContentTo be able to do business in a foreign country, one needs to know about the political stability and working of that government. India is a democratic country just like America. Most of its democracy is based on the American democracy. But that is where the similarities end. It is the world biggest democracy. Instead of the president, in India the Prime Minister is the head of the country. It is basically as federal parliamentary with more than two parties that represented the democracies from various parts of the country. The executive powers are entrusted by the government. The legislative powers are held by the two houses of parliament the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. The executive and the legislative powers have no control over the judiciary. The central power has greater power than the power held by the states. It has borrowed many parliamentary systems from the British government. The states can be controlled by the political party with the highest votes or the president can rule this state if no party holds the majority.

Although there are multiple political parties that vie for the center and the states, there are two major parties which have a large presence in the country. These parties are the Indian National Congress and the Bharatiya Janta Party.

Unlike American politics, Indian politics is a lot messier. It can be described chaotic at best. Bribery is quite common among the government authorities form the officials at the top most positions to the ones at the bottom. Any international company looking to set shop here needs to have a strong political connection which can be bought for an amount. Hence most companies here tie up with local companies to be able to utilize the connections it has. But things are changing with more transparency being bought into picture.
